Objective

Seeking a challenging and creative position in software design and development.

Experience Summary

I have been developing software for over twenty-five years and am well versed in all aspects of the software development process. The applications and drivers that I have developed are currently being used by millions of users. I am a business conscious engineer possessing experience in requirements gathering, business development, and schedule creation and maintenance, in addition to methods based coding. While I believe in process, I prefer to use it judiciously.

I have contributed to high profile projects at Apple Computer and Netscape Communications. My name appears in the Macintosh operating system. The Display Geometry control panel, which I designed and wrote, lives on to this day in OS-X. Millions of satisfied Stylewriter and Laserwriter owners use the drivers that I wrote for those products every day.

Open Country is a Linux startup that I helped get off the ground. I designed and developed our OCM Provision product which resulted in sales and funding for the fledgling company. With a small team I designed and implemented a client server architecture and application known as OC Manager. This product allows Linux system administrators to maintain many systems from one convenient system by pushing and installing RPM based packages and tracking versions and software updates. I am very proud of our accomplishments at Open Country and have maintained many contacts from that venture and others. It was a great ride, and of the experiences I value most. As a senior level developer at Mediagate, I was responsible for the design and development of our application server. This entailed requirements gathering from organizations in the US and Israel, team building, hiring, training and schedule development, in addition to design, engineering management, and coding.

Written in pure Java, our product utilizes XML and XSL, driven by Apache's Xalan and Xerces, to abstract data from business logic and the UI. The front end consists of a suite of servlets under Tomcat, which combine XML from disparate data sources into a single XML DOM.. XSL provides ease of implementation and localization without the need to write additional servlets or scripts. JINI ties everything together, aided by utilities that allow services to be addressed as XML data sources and destinations. The architecture is heavily interface based, thus alternative front and back end adapters can easily be deployed.

The rest of my history is covered in my resume. If you can not accept enclosures, my resume is also available at http://chrishull.com/resume/index.html

I can provide many references and code samples. A Power Point presentation of Qicksilver and product details for Open Country are available. Please feel free to drop me an e mail, and thank you for your interest.
